- 19th Octobe 2016 – To celebrate the Bi-Centenary of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, a flotilla of boats passed through Farnhill on Monday 17th October. Click here to see photos of the flotilla.
- 2nd September 2016 – Public Footpaths round Farnhill. Follow these instructions, a bit complicated but worth it! Under ‘Map Legend’ un-tick the box next to ‘Public rights of way’ – all the purple lines etc. will disappear and you’ll just see the map of the county underneath (if the lines are left on it slows the following steps down)· Click on the + symbol to the left of the map to zoom in until it changes to a more detailed map – then place your cursor on the map and hold and drag it at the same time to move the map to the Skipton/Silsden area (or use the little arrows e.g. < and > to move sideways or up and down the map)· Click on the + symbol again to zoom in further – the map will become more detailed until you can see Farnhill· Tick the box next to ‘Public rights of way’ on the Map Legend so that you can see the lines of the rights of way again· N.B: don’t zoom in too close or the lines of the rights of way will ‘disappear’ – if so, you will need to zoom out again by clicking on the minus symbol on the left of the map
- 17th August 2016 – Farnhill Parish Council wishes to thank Craven District Council for their grant of £760 towards the cost of the work on the Lower Arbour.
- 11th January 2016 – The North Yorkshire flood appeal is a new appeal to support people who have been affected by the floods in North Yorkshire in December 2015 and still ongoing. The appeal is set up by Two Ridings Community Foundation and is to benefit people in North Yorkshire. The fund is already at £30,000. Further details can be found here.
- 20th December 2015 – The Parish Council is undertaking extensive work on the Lower Arbour. A new “User Friendly” path has been installed, replacing the uneven steps. It is intended to make the steps easier to walk down and install a seat at the top of the Lower Arbour to appreciate the magnificent views. The seat has been funded by Keith Bunnett, an ex-Farnhill resident.
- 9th December 2015 – Another “Spot the Difference” for you to look at here This time it looks a t the canal full (now) and drained (early 1980s).
- 23rd November 2015 – Please be aware. Following a recent attempted burglary at a resident’s home, the matter was reported to the local police. The resident was surprise to be told that there has been a lot of reported attempted burglaries in recent weeks in Farnhill.
- 27th July 2015 – The Environment Agency are warning about giant hogweed along the canal bank. Contact can cause blisters, permanent scarring and even blindness if sap enters the eyes. Click here to see a picture of the offending weed and read the article.

- 3rd February 2015 – North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) is proposing to turn off some of their steet lights between midnight and 5am – see letter.Whilst the majority of lights in the village are owned and maintained by your Parish Council, the ones on The Crofts, Lang Kirk Close and under the culvert are owned and maintained by NYCC. The lights under the culvert will not be affected by the proposal but the others will. Your Parish Council has pointed out that the lights on Lang Kirk Close are covered by the criteria “Lights outside sheltered housing and other residences accommodating vulnerable people” and should not be turned off. If you live on The Crofts and fel strongly about the proposal, please contact NYCC. If you feel the other lights in the village should be turned off between midnight and 5am, please email the Parish Clerk. Latest News: Following representations from your Parish Council, the lights on Lang Kirk Close will not be turned off.

Your Parish Council has provisionally agreed to pay £250 towards the cost of the island. Residents may have noticed that work started on the refuge on 18th May – see photos of ongoing work.
